Background
Zambia’s 7th national development plan emphases the need for improved transparency and accountability. Among the strategies planned to achieve this is to strengthen transparency, accountability and enhance public financial management. Although the 7th plan will come to an end in 2021.The need to strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms and public financial management is even greater as government plans to implement the decentralization policy in 2022. Transparency and accountability can only be achieved if key stakeholder have the basic understanding of financial accounting. Hence the need for the non-finance personnel to have financial accounting knowledge cannot be overemphasized.
The Financial Accounting for Non-Finance Managers Course is intended for persons who wish to have a basic understanding of accounting and financial management. The course provides a unique opportunity to develop accounting knowledge and how it can be used in decision making. This course is especially designed to tackle accounting and financial management challenges face by non-accounting stake holder both in the public and private sector and Micro, Small and Medium enterprises.

To produce non-Finance professionals who have an understanding of financial information and use it for good financial management and decision making so as to strengthen transparency, accountability in public and private financial management hence achieving Zambia’s national development plan.
Objectives
At the end of the program Learners should be able to:
- Understand financial statements and how to interpret them for use in decision making
- Evaluate budgets and understand budgetary control
- Analyse the costing and pricing of products and services for proper decision making
- Understand the internal controls and how they contribute to good financial management and good governance.
- understand the local government finance system and drive the decentralization policy
