Background
This course is tailored to provide the Learners with more efficient methods in detailing the structural elements in reinforced concrete, and as a result serve time for other activities.
Rationale
In most cases, practicing engineers would rather use AutoCAD to prepare reinforcement details of the structural designs which is not wrong but is very time consuming and tedious. Current trends however point to the use of software packages that are aimed at drastically reducing the time spent in preparing the design documents. With the advent of building information modelling (BIM) software packages and the auxiliary add-on/extension application softwares, relative high productivity is assured in the design, detailing and documentation of civil and structural engineering designs.
This course has been designed to address the tedious and times consuming processes in the design office and introduces efficient methods of detailing and documentation of structural engineering designs particularly in reinforced concrete using AutoCAD and Revit software packages.

Entry requirements
The candidate must possess a minimum of a degree or diploma in civil engineering /structural engineering/mechanical engineering/construction science/building science/architecture or be a student or learner at diploma or degree working on or planning to design a research topic related to the design, detailing and documentation of a civil and structural engineering project.

Intensive 2 weeks of didactic lectures, hands-on practical and tutorials sessions
QUALIFICATION
Upon successful completion the candidates will be awarded a certificate in detailing in structural engineering - concrete structures. This qualification will only apply to a student who passes the final exam and completes the assignment or quizzes.
