The Professional Diploma in Evidence Based Learning and Knowledge Management (PELKM) is a short course designed to impart knowledge and share knowledge and experiences among industry practitioners through a controlled learning environment. The course is concerned with programs and projects that deal with creating behavioral and social change in communities through specific project interventions ranging from health, climate change adaptation and social justice, gender based violence, youth leaders development and political actors so as to enable participants to learn and know how to become change agents and development champions.

Background
Mulungushi University is a reputable public higher education institution situated with campuses in Kabwe, Livingstone and Kapiri Mposhi districts. The university has eight schools, of which the School of Business Studies is a part.
The University, in addition to its regular undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes offer short courses and specialized training on consultancy basis in order to contribute to the socioeconomic development of the nation and specifically equip the human resources in various institutions with the necessary skills set to foster efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

The Professional Diploma in Evidence Based Learning and Knowledge Management (PELKM) is a short course designed to impart knowledge and share knowledge and experiences among industry practitioners through a controlled learning environment. The introduction of this short course in Evidence Based Learning and Knowledge Management thus has arisen from the observation that the industry has over the years emphasized generic training in Project Management and little attention is given on how evidence based learning and knowledge management that is crucial for policy makers, project funders and planners; monitoring and evaluation experts. This way, community interventions will be resonating well with the ethos of how to bring about social or behavior change. By doing this course, one will then stand out in industry and would position oneself well when job opportunities for e.g. Behavior Change Advocates, Community Mobilizers, Knowledge Managers and Project Site Managers arise.

The learning outcomes of this short are to enable to:
- Understand evidence based learning and its importance in projects and programs planning.
- Appreciate the process of learning and how to reinforce knowledge retention and practice
- Understand the terrain within evidence based learning is used and its application
- Apply the various techniques in evidence based learning in projects and programs interventions
- Appreciate the importance of knowledge management in organizations and how its applied
- Apply appropriate computer software in evidence based learning and knowledge management
- Know and apply evidence learning techniques and knowledge in project programming in real life situations.
Expected prior knowledge
Either a diploma or a degree from a recognized institution in any professional discipline such as planning, social work, agriculture, etc. School leavers must have five “O” Levels, including the English Language.

After the training sessions, it is expected that the participants will have been:
